Can Healing Cancer Be Linked To Healing Trauma

Written By: Christopher May  No Comment

Several studies investigating the possible behavior patterns in those who develop, and have lower recovery cancer found that high stress, emotional wounds and life trauma may have a direct connection to the why our bodies develop cancer and other life threatening illnesses.

Styles of coping with stress, and our susceptibility to diseases, such as cancer, increased when anger or other intense emotions were repressed. When traumas are blocked disease seems to be more prevalent. Repression means holding onto or stuffing negative memories, emotions and events rather than openly expressing or releasing the trauma in some fashion. Repression of trauma appears to create conditions in the body ripe for illnesses such as cancer. This suggests a strong mind-body connection to disease and healing.

In these studies, researchers found that there is a pattern or correlation between traumatic life events, like a divorce, the death of loved one, major job loss, even retirement which preceded the on-set of cancer by several years later. These studies do not sit well with Oncologists, hospitals or laboratory researchers because they are uncomfortable with the implications. Human behavior is difficult to pin down statically or scientifically, even if we intuitively see relationships between the mind-body healing and the possible cause of illnesses.

To foster greater healing in life, we often need to release and transform painful past traumas by asserting our will to live. Once these traumas are released from the mind-body they can used to gain insights into your ability to thrive despite the obstacles life brings our way. Many times, once there is a letting go of traumas, mind-body healing begins to take place. This releasing process can lead to a healing cycle where the psychological causes of cancer and life threatening illness are removed. Many cancers may not be linked to trauma as traditionally understood, for example skin cancers are not examples of possible trauma related illnesses.

Research shows that those who experience deeper love, a connection to God or Higher Power, greater forgiveness, gratitude and even an heal and return to health more readily. Trauma reduces a feeling of connection to others or God. If a feeling connection is important to healing, then we must address and tranform traumas to increase well being.

There appears to be a real connection to developing diseases like cancer with intense traumas. Trauma causes stress, and stress suppresses the immune system as well as the production of healthy endorphins in the brain. If we don’t feel good because of traumas about life then suffering appears in the body in the form of as illnesses like cancer, as well as emotional and mental suffering.

Our understanding of our traumatized selves may give us permission to heal. Healing Trauma opens up the possibility of a recovery from the psychosomatic causes of illnesses. This blossoming of understanding and compassion leads to forgiveness, gratitude and self-empowerment. No one heals the body really, it heals itself when conditions are favorable.

Often times moving past the trauma leads to an improve outlook, increased optimism and a greater will to live. After releasing the pain associated with traumas events are often viewed as spiritual milestones. Great challenges become great blessings. But, we first have to address the trauma, remove the sting and then, perhaps the biological expression in the body as cancer or life threatening can be removed as well. In multitudes of lives this process of releasing trauma does increase mind-body healing does seem to be working successfully.

This series is an excellent resource for working with releasing those obstacles to health and happiness. Caroline Myss and James Finley have used these methods successfully to help many a person suffering with blockages at all levels.

Transforming Trauma: A Seven-Step Process for Spiritual Healing.

By transforming trauma we cross a threshold to awakening great compassion for ourselves, and those that have caused us pain. Letting go of past memories, and experiences re-awakens healing powers in the body. Stress dramatically reduces the body’s ability to heal. The body’ defense systems operate poorly in a fight or flight mode.

We all experience traumas during our lifetimes. For some those traumas remain unhealed or unresolved, blocking progress to the bodily healing processes, not to mention basic levels of happiness. Unresolved trauma may prevent us from feeling loveable, joyful, or even optimistic about life. Anger and resentment when held onto for months, years and decades sends constant chemical as well as electric signals to the body blocking wellness, inhibiting healing process without our bodies. The good news is that there are constructive ways to release traumas which may release us to high levels of health, healing, loving, joy and thinking with greater wisdom about the journey of life. In a sense traumas which are not healed plug up the mind, emotions and body with hindrances to health.

In this powerful, life changing series, Transforming Trauma: A Seven-Step Process for Spiritual Healing, Dr. Caroline Myss and James Finley explore the Mystical Approach to Healing Trauma. This means bringing the spiritual dimensions together with the classic notions of healing used in therapy settings. Healing gives us greater choices. It may also prevent us from being in future situations where trauma is possible. Having more choice will liberate us to live with deeper fulfillment in a loving relationship with ourselves, our life partner, families, friends and co-workers.
