8 ways reform provides security and stability to those with or without coverage

1. Ends Discrimination for Pre-Existing Conditions: Insurance companies will be prohibited from refusing you coverage because of your medical history.

2. Ends Exorbitant Out-of-Pocket Expenses, Deductibles or Co-Pays: Insurance companies will have to abide by yearly caps on how much they can charge for out-of-pocket expenses.

3. Ends Cost-Sharing for Preventive Care: Insurance companies must fully cover, without charge, regular checkups and tests that help you prevent illness, such as mammograms or eye and foot exams for diabetics.

4. Ends Dropping of Coverage for Seriously Ill: Insurance companies will be prohibited from dropping or watering down insurance coverage for those who become seriously ill.

5. Ends Gender Discrimination: Insurance companies will be prohibited from charging you more because of your gender.

6. Ends Annual or Lifetime Caps on Coverage: Insurance companies will be prevented from placing annual or lifetime caps on the coverage you receive.

7. Extends Coverage for Young Adults: Children would continue to be eligible for family coverage through the age of 26.

8. Guarantees Insurance Renewal: Insurance companies will be required to renew any policy as long as the policyholder pays their premium in full. Insurance companies won’t be allowed to refuse renewal because someone became sick.

Go to the source, and bypass the media or lobbyists information. To learn more about the President Obama’s recommendations or to receive updates, visit the White House website for more reality check information. There is so much garbage on the news it is difficult to understand such a highly politicized topic.

FYI – Health Care lobbies spend $1.4 million dollars per day on lobbying to Congress and the Senate. That is $511 million dollars a year! Do you think they are behind some of the dis-information or mis-information?

We had a house guest from Germany here recently who bought some medication here in the US. She said the cost of her medication was more than 3 times the cost in the US. In Germany she paid the equivalent of $50 USD for a 3-month supply, while in the US she pays $50 for a 1 month supply.

8 common myths about health insurance reform

1. Reform will stop “rationing” – not increase it: It’s a myth that reform will mean a “government takeover” of health care or lead to “rationing.” To the contrary, reform will forbid many forms of rationing that are currently being used by insurance companies.

2. We can’t afford reform: It’s the status quo we can’t afford. It’s a myth that reform will bust the budget. To the contrary, the President has identified ways to pay for the vast majority of the up-front costs by cutting waste, fraud, and abuse within existing government health programs; ending big subsidies to insurance comp anies; and increasing efficiency with such steps as coordinating care and streamlining paperwork. In the long term, reform can help bring down costs that will otherwise lead to a fiscal crisis.

3. Reform would encourage “euthanasia”: It does not. It’s a malicious myth that reform would encourage or even require euthanasia for seniors. For seniors who want to consult with their family and physicians about end-of life decisions, reform will help to cover these voluntary, private consultations for those who want help with these personal and difficult family decisions.

4. Vets’ health care is safe and sound: It’s a myth that health insurance reform will affect veterans’ access to the care they get now. To the contrary, the President’s budget significantly expands coverage under the VA, extending care to 500,000 more veterans who were previously excluded. The VA Healthcare system will continue to be available for all eligible veterans.

5. Reform will benefit small business – not burden it: It’s a myth that health insurance reform will hurt small businesses. To the contrary, reform will ease the burdens on small businesses, provide tax credits to help them pay for employee coverage and help level the playing fiel d with big firms who pay much less to cover their employees on average.

6. Your Medicare is safe, and stronger with reform: It’s myth that Health Insurance Reform would be financed by cutting Medicare benefits. To the contrary, reform will improve the long-term financial health of Medicare, ensure better coordination, eliminate waste and unnecessary subsidies to insurance companies, and help to close the Medicare “doughnut” hole to make prescription drugs more affordable for seniors.

7. You can keep your own insurance: It’s myth that reform will force you out of your current insurance plan or force you to change doctors. To the contrary, reform will expand your choices, not eliminate them.

8. No, government will not do anything with your bank account: It is an absurd myth that government will be in charge of your bank accounts. Health insurance reform will simplify administration, making it easier and more convenient for you to pay bills in a method that you choose. Just like paying a phone bill or a utility bill, you can pay by traditional check, or by a direct electronic payment. And forms will be standardized so they will be easier to understand. The choice is up to you – and th e same rules of privacy will apply as they do for all other electronic payments that people make.

Every astronauts has remarked about the deep impact space flight made on their lives. Each person in the space program has commented how beautiful and fragile the Earth appears from space. Seeing the relationship of the Earth to the surrounding space gave them a renewed appreciation for how delicate the balance of nature. Many of them became involved in healing ills on the planet; some have become advocates of greater environmental protection, and several developed a deep spirituality.

If life on Earth is fragile, and we have learned so much about the web of interconnectedness between our bodies and all of the Earth, why isn’t pollution being more swiftly reduced? Pollution has been directly linked to dozens of lift threatening illnesses, especially cancer.

When we experience love, we work to protect, nurture and shield that which we love. Some in business and technology development are creating and proliferating life sapping technologies which are causing great harm to our bodies healing systems. Making a profit is more important than the long term survival of the Earth for these individuals.

When we love and heal the planet, we are actually loving and healing ourselves. Taking care of the planet honors the Creator, High Power, God or Pure Intelligence that created this planet. If we value this beautiful physical body of ours, and wondrous planet which has been given to us as a home, then we must reduce the toxic activities, and find better ways to live in harmony with life. are proof that we are out of balance.

Cancer is proof that there are imbalances in our environment, food supply, air, water and manufacturing processes. Greed has caused imbalances between the need to find technology which makes life easier, and protecting life in the process. Desire for dominance over nature, and the planet has superceded an enlightened view that acknowledges that we are part of the planet rather than separate from the Earth. Love connects us in our experience to the Earth, while greed fosters a separative view of our relationship to the Earth. Greed is behind many of the illnesses we face today.

Reducing pollution is critical for all of us concerned about the welfare of humanity, and other creatures. Reducing pollution will reduce risks to health, and bring cancer rates down. Pollution has caused a dramatic rise in cancer rates. Cancer is speaking to us. The body is talking but are we listening? Why are cancer rates climbing? Why has illness increased in industrialized countries?

Do we need decades of studies to tell us what we already know? Pollution is shortening life spans by increasing threats to our health.

Pollution not only leads to life threatening illnesses, but diminishes all systems in the body, even the development of the brain. We must hastily develop and USE alternative energy sources, and drive low fuel use cars, or hybrids.

Love your Mother Earth because your body is part of the Earth. We are inseparable from this planets fragile systems. We are a cell in that great Earth body. Are we as human beings acting like cancerous cells or healthy cells in relation to the Earth.

Plant 30-60 trees for every per person in your home each year through American Forests. They are involved in world wide tree planting as their main mission. $1.00 plants on tree. Planting trees offsets greenhouse gases tremendously.

Together, we can do anything. If human beings can land on the moon, can we create environmental healing in our world, reduce cancer rates, and help children have a brighter future? Yes, we can.

If we see the Earth as a sacred space, how much differently will we act? When something is sacred, we will treat the Earth with greater respect, kindness and the greatest love possible. When we see our bodies as sacred we will do the same.
